Croatian is the principal language spoken in Croatia. It is essentially the same language as Serbian, with some differences in vocabulary. It is spoken in Croatia, as well as being a minority language in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. It has around five and a half million speakers. It is a member of the Slavic group of Indo-European languages.

Tourism
Croatia attracts over 10 million tourists annually, most of whom visit the Adriatic coast, particularly the medieval city of Dubrovnik. It also offers some spectacular scenery inland with mountain resorts, spas and nature reserves. A visit to Croatia will be significantly enhanced by just a little knowledge of Croatian which will also stand you in good stead in Serbia and Bosnia.
