About the French language
French is spoken as a mother tongue or fluently by around 120 million people worldwide, of whom 50 million live in France itself.
It is also spoken in many other parts of the world including Canada (particularly Quebec), Belgium, Switzerland, numerous countries throughout North, Central, and West Africa, as well as some Asian countries.
